The Experiment Is Over. Now Show Me the Business Result.

A year ago, experimentation was enough. Today, experimentation is just the beginning.
We’ve tested the tools, written the prompts, automated a few things, probably broken a few things, and learned a lot along the way. That was necessary. A lot of the industry needed time to get comfortable with AI, see what it could actually do, and separate some of the promise from the noise.
Now I think the questions need to get better.
Is it actually working? Is it helping us make money, create a better customer experience or do something that wasn’t possible before? And maybe just as important, are we getting better at knowing when AI should be part of the answer and when it shouldn’t?
That’s the conversation behind Automate & Elevate 2026.
Last year, a lot of us were still asking some version of, What can AI do? That was a useful question. We needed to experiment and get our hands dirty instead of just reading headlines about what might be coming next.
But I think we’ve moved past the point where experimentation alone is enough.
A shiny new tool is not a business strategy, and a faster workflow only matters if it creates room for something better. Automation can save time, but that doesn’t automatically make it valuable. We still have to decide what is worth automating, what should stay human and where the real business opportunity actually is.
The advantage isn’t AI. The advantage is judgment.
That idea has shaped a lot of the thinking behind this year’s event.
With input from our Education Partners, PRINTING United Alliance and ASI, we built the 2026 education program around three practical conversations designed to move us from experimentation toward business outcomes.
FROM EXPERIMENTS TO RESULTS starts with the obvious question: where are AI and automation already producing real results today? Not someday or in a polished demo, but inside actual businesses.
FROM EFFICIENCY TO OPPORTUNITY takes that conversation further. Saving time matters, but efficiency can’t be the finish line. Where can AI help us create better customer experiences, build new capabilities or uncover new revenue opportunities?
And then there’s WHEN AI STOPS BEING A TOOL, which may be the conversation I’m most interested in. What changes when AI becomes less like something we “go use” and more like something built into the systems, workflows and decisions around us? What happens when customers begin interacting with businesses differently because AI is sitting somewhere between the question and the answer?
Those feel like more useful questions than, What prompt should I use?
Each panel is being built around something practical attendees can take back to their business. The goal isn’t to leave people with more AI noise. It’s to help people make better decisions about what is working, what deserves more attention and what might actually be worth trying next.
The partners behind the event matter for the same reason.
PromoPilot has stepped up as our Presenting Partner. PRINTING United Alliance and ASI are helping shape the educational direction. AltOps and FastEditor are contributing technology perspectives, and The 2 Regular Guys are returning as hosts.
I’m grateful for every one of them, not because their logos make the event look bigger, but because their participation makes the conversation better.
The first Automate & Elevate drew 269 registrations from across promo, print and apparel. This year, the goal isn’t simply to repeat that. I want us to look harder at what’s actually working, challenge where the hype ends and the business value begins, and leave with a clearer idea of what might be worth doing next.
Automate & Elevate 2026 happens Thursday, November 12, from 1:00–2:30 p.m. ET. It’s live, online and free to attend. Come see what’s working, what’s changing and what might be worth trying next.
